About FamilyStories
FamilyStories is a private family storytelling app for preserving the memories, voices, and life stories of parents, grandparents, and loved ones.
Questions tailored to each person help bring back childhood memories, family traditions, and personal milestones. Capture answers through voice recordings, text, and photos. Automatic transcription turns spoken memories into written answers while keeping the original voice.
Invite relatives to answer in the app or directly in their browser through an invitation link, with no app installation required. An optional family tree helps connect the people behind the stories.
Gather your family's memories in one shared, private archive. Large text and clear steps make sharing stories approachable across generations. End-to-end encryption protects family content, with no ads or data sales.
Coming soon to iPhone and iPad. Join the waitlist at familystories.love.
The hardest part - a note from the founder
What's something you believed at the start that you've completely changed your mind on?
I used to think there would always be time to ask. Losing my grandparents changed that. I’m building FamilyStories to help families start those conversations earlier and keep the voices and everyday stories they’ll one day wish they could hear again.

Beats my audio folder mess
I used to record my grandmother on my phone and dump the files into a self-hosted folder with a text file of what each one was about, which worked until nobody but me could find anything. After switching, the prompted questions actually got her talking about stuff I'd never have thought to ask, and the whole family can just open the app instead of asking me for links. For a buck I'm not complaining, but I'd still like an export or API so I can keep my own backup of the recordings outside their servers.
